"WARSFOLK" International Folklore Festival
- The "WARSFOLK" International Folk Festival is organised by the Stefan Żeromski Cultural Centre in the Wola district of Warsaw and by the Polish Academic Folk Association (PASF).
- The Festival is an annual event organised in the 4th weekend of August.
- The Festival is a review in which ensembles participate free of charge presenting folklore adapted for the stage.
- The group may not exceed 35 participants, and every one of them must be over 16.
- The ensemble interested in participation sends (first by email, and then by regular post not later than 20 February) the APPLICATION FORM and the following attachments:
- Information about the ensemble and it’s achievements;
- 5 high quality photographs (if by mail, they should be in *.jpg format);
- film recordings (DVD or VCD) presenting the ensemble’s programme - minimum 60 min.
- Participating ensembles of the "WARSFOLK" festival are selected by the festival’s board not later than 31 March.
- More likely to qualify are groups that will guarantee a several day stay of a Polish ensemble recommended by the Polish Academic Folk Association (PASF) at, for instance, a festival in their country.
- Festival organisers will inform the ensemble about its participation in a separate letter accompanied by an on official invitation.
- The participating ensemble must prepare two 25 – 30 minute various presentations, a 60 minute presentation and a 3–min. "introductory presentation".
- All festival presentations must be accompanied by live music.
- Every ensemble must execute the presentations planned by the festival board for the duration of their stay in Warsaw.
- Festival presentations may be registered by the radio and television. The groups do not receive any remunerations for this and agree that the materials be used by the Festival.
- The Festival hosts the groups for 5 days – from Wednesday till Monday. Precise dates of arrival and departure are set by the board in agreement with the ensemble’s manager.
- For the duration of the stay, the organisers ensure*)
- accomodation (student hotels);
- food (3 meals a day – Polish cuisine);
- at least 1 English–speaking guide per group;
- for groups arriving by plane or train – coach for local travel;
- help in obtaining visas.
- During the group’s stay, it’s manager is fully responsible for the members of his/her group. The responsibility comprises in particular:
- Punctuality in execution of festival programme;
- Friendly attitude towards the members of other groups and people working for the festival;
- Should any damage be done by any member of a given group during his/her stay during the festival, the manager will cover the costs of damage.
- All members of the ensemble must have insurance (group or individual) to cover all costs of treatment in Poland, should it be necessary. The insurance must cover the period from the day of entry to Poland to the day of departure from Poland. The group’s manager is responsible for meeting this obligation.
- The festival’s official languages are Polish and English.
