The folk group "SVITANAK" by the center of creativity of children and youth of Partisansky district of Minsk was founded in October, 1984.
Svitanak means the time of the day before dawn, the time between night and morning, before sunrise. The folk group is named so because boys and girls and youth from 5 to 31 years old are engaged in it.
The repertory of the folk group is music, songs and dances. Music and songs which have been heard and written down directly from people are executed on ancient and traditional instruments, they preserve the manner and color of sound and therefore are close and clear not only to Byelorussians, but also to people of different nationalities. The combination of music, songs and dances has enabled to create bright concert programs.
Revealing a rich inner world of Byelorussians, embodied in the song, music, dance, national suit, the folk group "SVITANAK" carefully keeps and renders the best features and traditions of Byelorussian folklore. Moreover, it remains loyal to the spirit and character of original national creative work.
The folk group carries out a great concert activity; it takes part in charitable actions.
"SVITANAK" has many awards for the great work on aesthetic education. It repeatedly became the winner and the prize–winner of review–competitions among folklore groups.
"SVITANAK" had the honor of presenting it’s creative work abroad in such countries as Norway, Austria, Italy, Germany.
The concert program consists of two 45–minute parts or can be performed in a non–stop mode. The structure of the group can be either mixed (youth and children perform the program together) or separate.
