"LYKION TON ELLINIDON" of Larissa was founded in 1979 completing 31 years of cultural presence, presenting dances, songs and customs from the rich Greek tradition, which dates back to the ancient times.

The aim of its action is not just limited to dance courses. "LYKION TON ELLINIDON" is also occupied with ethnological, philosophical and other subjects of the Greek culture. Its wardrobe includes old authentic costumes in a large variety as well as exceptional traditional jewels.

The chairman of the group is Mrs Thelma Zitonouli. Professor Dimitris A. Tsiplakoulis has been the director since 1986 and with his rich inquiring actions and responsible search created an important hive of popular culture. There have been many successful performances of the dancing group in Greece and abroad. Its dancers have participated in many festivals, which took place not only in Italy, but also in France, Switzerland, Spain and the USA (California, Nevada, Washington, New York City). They have also appeared on TV in France and Italy.

Some of the milestones in the history of the dancing group are the first and third prize in the festivals of Agrigento in Italy (in February 1988 and in February 2004 respectively). Furthermore, the days of the performances in the cities of Atlanta and Noxvill have been declared as Honorary Days of the Lykion ton Ellinidon. What is more, the group has also been awarded with the Golden Keys of the cities of Las Vegas and Los Angeles. There have also been some very important performances in Greece such as:"Unforgettable Fatherland", "The Greeks and the Seasons", "Brass bands of Macedonia", "Cyrcle of life in Thessalia", "Colors of dances".
